This weekend I’m headed to New Orleans to attend my very first Essence Music Festival! I’m super excited. But, with my excited comes the reality that I have to pack.
Honestly, packing has never been one of my strong skills. I always wait until the last minute and, without fail, over pack. However, for this trip I made a solid effort to do better.
I pulled out all of my outfits, shoes, accessories, and even hair products last night. Some of them even found their way into my luggage. In any event, it’s Friday morning and I’m still not finish… Better luck on my next trip I guess.
I did manage to snap a few photos of what’s in (or what’s going to be in) my Essence luggage. Take a gander!
Ok, so I know from the picture this seems like ALOT of product. And, yes that is a 32oz size of gel (don’t judge) 
But, since I will be traveling by car, without the size limitations of flying, full size products are in order.
Nothing is worse than getting to your destination and not having what you need. So, with that in mind, I bring it all.
My skin care routine is pretty basic. Nothing fancy just cleanser, toner, acne treatment, and moisturizer. I’ve found, with my oily skin, that keeping it simple is best.
I’ve been warned by many of my fellow blogger buddies, who are Essence pros, that it is going to be hotter than hot. Taking their climate notes to heart, my wardrobe selection is full of carefree dresses, flowing tops, and bright colors. I also threw in a pair of jeans for good measure.
Keeping with the “I would prefer not to burst into flames” theme, I opted to bring several pairs of sandals and open toe heels. My feet should stay nice and breezy in the New Orleans heat.
Last, but certainly not least, accessories! I had the most fun, if packing can be considered fun, picking out my earrings, belts, sunglasses & necklaces for this trip. My thought process was the bigger the better; hence 4 pair of the over-sized earrings.
